Turf irrigation for Brisbane sports fields and lawns
Dry patches in the same spots every summer, sprinklers watering the footpath and a water bill that keeps climbing usually mean the system has drifted out of adjustment. We check how evenly it waters, fix what's broken and set the schedule so the whole field or lawn gets what it needs.
- Year-round contracts costed for your budget
- In-house Clegg hammer testing and soil sampling
- Tractor-mounted aeration and top dressing gear
- Fields up to 400 km from Beenleigh
Is your irrigation watering evenly?
Most systems work well when they go in, then slowly drift. Heads sink as the turf builds up around them, nozzles block, mowers clip sprinklers, and the controller keeps running a schedule set years ago. The result is turf that's green in some places and brown in others, even with water going on every night.
- Dry, brown patches between sprinkler heads or along the edges
- Soggy spots or puddles near heads and valves
- Sprinklers watering paths, fences, buildings or the road
- Heads that don't pop up, sit crooked or are buried in the turf
- Spray that falls short or breaks up into mist, or a zone that never seems to come on
- Water bills going up while the grass looks no better
Still getting dry patches with the sprinklers on?
We'll run the system zone by zone, see where the water is and isn't landing, and tell you what it will take to fix. Jobs from $220.
Irrigation checks, repairs and upgrades
We work on the system itself, from the controller out to the sprinkler heads, so every part of the field or lawn gets watered evenly.
Coverage check
We run every zone and watch where the water lands, looking for gaps between heads, overspray onto hard surfaces, low pressure and heads that aren't turning. You get a written list of what needs fixing and why, in order of priority.
Head adjustment and repairs
Raising sunken heads, straightening tilted ones, clearing or replacing blocked nozzles, resetting arcs and throw distance, and replacing broken heads and leaking fittings.
Scheduling
Run times set zone by zone to suit the soil, sun, slope and season. Deeper, less frequent watering pushes roots down, so turf copes better with dry spells and heavy use. Our guide to making every drop count when you water explains why.
Upgrades
Replacing old or mismatched heads so each zone waters at an even rate, adding heads to fill gaps, extending coverage to areas that were never reached, and updating controllers, including rain sensors that skip a cycle after a storm.
Even water means an even playing surface
On a sports field, patchy irrigation shows up in more than the colour. Dry areas bake hard, which raises the risk of impact injuries. Overwatered areas stay soft, cut up under studs and are more prone to fungal disease and weeds. Neither recovers well from wear.
- Dry zones read harder in Clegg hammer testing, so fixing coverage is often part of fixing hardness
- A turf fertiliser program only works where there's moisture to carry it to the roots
- Even watering after aeration and top dressing helps the field recover before the season
The same goes for big home lawns and acreage. And if a dry patch turns out to be compacted soil rather than the sprinklers, we'll tell you, because lawn aeration may be the better fix.
Before we come out, and what we cover
Before we come out
- Know where the controller is and how to get to it
- Find a plan of the system or the valve locations, if you have one
- Tell us the water source: mains, bore, tank or recycled
- Mention any zones you already know are playing up
- For fields, let us know training and fixture times so we can run the system when it's clear
What's in our scope
We work on the irrigation side: controllers, valves, lines, sprinkler heads, nozzles and scheduling.
Work on the water supply connection or a backflow prevention device needs a licensed plumber. If that's where the problem is, we'll tell you so you can get the right person in.
What it costs, and who does the work
What it costs
Jobs start from $220. Adjusting and replacing a few heads on one system sits at the lower end. Replacing heads across several zones, finding and fixing a leaking line, extending coverage or travel to a regional ground costs more.
For councils, schools and clubs, the written fault list makes repairs easier to get approved, and irrigation checks can sit inside a sports field maintenance contract, costed up front for your budget cycle. You get a firm price after the free onsite check.
