Regular lawn service in Brisbane

You've put money into getting the lawn right, or you're tired of it looking good in spring and worn out by autumn. Our regular lawn service visits every eight weeks to feed it, keep weeds down and catch pests early, so it holds up between renovations.

Who it suits

Why a good lawn doesn't stay that way

A renovation fixes what's underneath: compacted soil, thatch, uneven ground. It can't stop the season wearing the lawn down again. South East Queensland grass grows hard from September to April, uses up what's in the soil, and faces storms, weeds and pests all at once. Without a plan, the gains fade quickly.

A regular program is worth it if:

  • You've just had the lawn cored, scarified or top dressed and want to protect it
  • It looks good in spring but is thin and tired by late summer
  • The same weeds come back in the same spots every year
  • You've lost patches to grubs or armyworm before
  • You'd rather not work out what to put on the lawn, and when

Want the lawn to hold up all year?

We'll check the grass type, the soil, the weeds and any pest history, then tell you whether a regular program is worth it or a one-off treatment will do. Jobs from $220.

What's included

What the regular lawn service covers

One plan for the year, worked out for your grass and soil, then carried out on a set schedule.

A seasonal plan

We identify the grass type, check the soil and note any weed, pest or drainage problems, then set out what goes on the lawn and when.

Visits every 8 weeks

About six a year, spread across the calendar. What goes on at each one changes with the season and with what we find on the day.

Fertilising

Slow-release or liquid feeds matched to the grass and the season, for steady growth rather than a sudden flush. More on lawn fertilising.

Weed control

Spot spraying, plus pre-emergent at the change of season to help hold back the next lot. Steady weed control keeps weeds in check, though it rarely ends them for good.

Pest and disease checks

We check for grubs, armyworm, black beetle and fungal patches every visit, and arrange grub and pest treatment when the lawn needs it. Our guide covers the signs of lawn grubs to watch for in between.

Advice as we go

Mowing height, watering and problem spots, plus a heads-up when the lawn would benefit from aeration or top dressing, and when it doesn't.

On the day

What happens at each visit

  • Walk the lawn and check for pests, disease and dry or weak areas
  • Apply the feed and weed treatments due for the season
  • Spot spray any weeds that have come through
  • Leave a short note: what we did, how long to keep kids and pets off, and anything to watch for

Across the year: a first feed and pre-emergent as the soil warms, the main feeds through spring and summer, a close watch for grubs and armyworm from late spring into autumn, and a winter weed treatment as it cools. For the bigger picture, see lawn maintenance through the seasons.

Best after a renovation

Designed to follow a lawn renovation

Feeding and spraying keep a healthy lawn healthy. They can't fix compacted soil or a thick mat of thatch, and fertiliser spread over those problems tends to sit in the thatch or wash off the hard ground instead of reaching the roots.

So if the lawn needs it, we'll suggest a spring lawn renovation first, with core aeration, scarifying or top dressing as needed, then the program to protect the result. A lawn already in good shape can start straight away.

What it doesn't include

Mowing and edging: keep your own routine or contractor. We also keep the round to a size our own crew can look after properly, so if we can't fit you in straight away, we'll say so.

Pricing

What does a regular lawn service cost?

Jobs start from $220. What your program costs depends on:

  • The size of the lawn and how easy it is to get around
  • The grass type and the condition it's in now
  • How much weed and pest pressure it's under
  • Which treatments go into your plan

After the free onsite check you get a firm price, so you know the cost before the first visit. Rather talk it through first? Call the office on 07 3829 9777.

Getting started

How to get onto the program

  1. Free onsite check

We look at the grass, the soil, the weeds and any pest damage, and ask what you want from the lawn.

  2. A plan and a price

You get a seasonal plan showing what goes on the lawn and when, with a firm price. Jobs from $220.

  3. Scheduled visits

Every eight weeks we check the lawn, apply what is due and adjust the plan if the season or the lawn calls for it.

Common questions

How much does a regular lawn service cost?
Jobs start from $220. Most of the cost comes down to how big the lawn is and how much the plan has to cover: a small couch lawn in good shape needs less than a large lawn with a history of grubs and weeds. We work out the plan at the free onsite check and give you a firm price before the first visit.
How often do you visit?
Every eight weeks, so about six visits a year. Rain or a heatwave can push a visit back a few days, and we'll let you know when that happens. If dead patches or anything else turn up in between, ring the office and we'll talk you through it.
Does the regular lawn service include mowing?
No. The program covers feeding, weed control and pest and disease checks, so keep your usual mowing routine or contractor. We'll tell you the right cutting height for your grass through the year, because mowing too short is one of the most common reasons a lawn thins out.
Do kids and pets need to keep off the lawn after a visit?
For a while, yes. We follow the label directions for every product and tell you on the day how long to keep children and pets off the lawn, and whether it needs watering in. If a dog lives on the lawn or there's a vegetable patch nearby, mention it at the onsite check so we can plan around it.
When is the best time to start?
Late winter to early spring is ideal: pre-emergent goes down before summer grass germinates, and the first feed lines up with the soil warming. Straight after a spring renovation works just as well. Start at another time of year and the plan simply picks up from where the season is.
